Status: One of the Twelve Olympian Gods.

 

Title: God of the Sea, Earthquakes, Fresh Water and Horses.

 

Weapon of Choice: His Trident.

 

Symbols of Poseidon: The Trident - Represents power and                                                   authority.

                                        Earthquakes - Represents Poseidon's                                                 great temper.

 

Sacred Animal(s): The Horse - Being the creator of horses,
                               Poseidon has a special connection with them
                               and they are often the animals that are
                               shown drawing his carriage.

                               The Dolphin - Represents Poseidon's                                                   connection to all aquatic creatures.

                               The Bull - One of the animals that was                                                sacrificed the most to please Poseidon.

 

Places of Worship: One of the main places of worship dedicated to Poseidon was the Temple of Poseidon located in Cape Sounion in southern Attica. The remains of the temple are situated on the headland, perfectly placed for the God of the Sea as it is surrounded on three sides by the ocean.
