                  Mother of: Persephone

                                   Despoina

                                   Arion

                                   Plutus

                                   Philomelus

                                   Eubuleus 

 

                    Consort:

 

Status: One of the Twelve Olympian Gods.

 

Title: Goddess of Agriculture, Law and Order, Grain, Bread and              the Cycle of Life.

 

Weapon of Choice: Demeter did not have a weapon she                                                  used, though it is said that she often                                                used her power of starvation to take                                                  revenge.

 

Symbols of Demeter: Torch - Represents knowledge.

                                       Cornucopia - Represents abundance                                                and nourishment.

 

Sacred Animal(s): Snake - Serpents pulled Demeter's chariot,                                    making them sacred to her.

                               Lizards - Represents death and resurrection.

 

Places of Worship: There are many temples dedicated to Demeter. Many are called the Temple of Demeter and some can be found in Selinunte in Sicily, the Island of Naxos, and Eleusis, Greece.
