Status: One of the Twelve Olympian Gods.

 

Title: God of War and Battle, City Defense, Anger and Violence,           Fear and Courage, and Bloodlust.

 

Weapon of Choice: Spear and Shield.

 

Symbols of Ares: Spear and Shield - Represents his aptitude                                    in battle.

                               Helmet - Represents war.

                               Flaming Torch - Represents the start of                                            battle between opposing sides.

 

Sacred Animal(s): Dog - The dog, as a scavenger of a                                                    battlefield, was a favourite of Ares.

                               Vulture - Represents the violence of Ares.

                               Serpent - Ares is often depicted with                                                serpents near him.

 

Places of Worship: One of the most well-known temples dedicated to Ares was the Temple of Ares, located in Ancient Agora of Athens. Ares temple is similar to the one of Athena and its ruins can be dated back to the 5th century B.C.E.
